Visitation: 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home and also 1/2 hour prior to Mass on Saturday at the church

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Eugene Klink officiating

Interment: Calvary Cemetery, Town of Washington, Wisconsin

Eugene J. Ertz, age 88, of Eau Claire passed away on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at Dove Healthcare- West.

Eugene was born on November 1, 1924 to the late John and Mary (Morehouse) Ertz in Lancaster, Wisconsin. He graduated with a degree in Mines and Metallurgy from University of Missouri - Rolla and worked for the State of Wisconsin as Civil Engineer retiring in 1987.  On April 18, 1953, he married ClaraBelle Simonson in Ladysmith. Eugene proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during WWII.

Eugene enjoyed being a winter "Texan." He was a member of V.F.W. Post 305 and the Elks.  Family was very important as he was a devoted father and grandfather.

He is survived by his children, Kathleen Ertz (Sandy) of Elk Mound, Virginia (Mel) Ott of Chippewa Falls, Robert Ertz (Chris) of Woodbury, MN; grandchildren, Joseph (Melissa), Angela, and Sarah; sisters, Anna Kitto, Joan Brackett, and Frances (Richard) Dent; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, ClaraBelle; brother, Joseph; sisters, Louise Pink, Modesta Kopp, and Rita Ertz.
