 Jerome L. Shipman, age 89, of Eau Claire died on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at home surrounded by his family.
Jerome was born on January 22, 1924 to the late Lorn and Rose (Breed) Shipman in New Auburn. On January 25, 1945, he married Irene Summerfield at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Bloomer. They just celebrated their 68th anniversary. To this marriage three children were born, Sharon, Larry, and William.
Jerome worked 15 years with Presto Industries, 28 years for the City of Eau Claire, and 15 years with Gustin Cleaners. He loved all sports, but especially basketball. Jerome enjoyed spending time at their cabin in the town of Barnes and fishing with his family. Teaching his grandsons how to fish was a special joy.
He is survived by his wife, Irene; sons, Larry (Sue), Bill (Cindy); son-in-law, Gordon Petschow; grandsons, Garett (Jennie), Sean (Kari), Lance, Travis, Daniel (Angie); granddaughter, Monica (Dathaniel) Rye; great grandchildren, Emily, Cade, Sara, Kayla, Zach, and Hailey; sister, Ilene (Wayne) Pingel; brother, Clyde (Marion) Shipman; sisters-in-law, Georgene Shipman, Annabelle Bronstad, and Donna Summerfield; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sharon Petschow and brother, Max Shipman.
