MCCORISON, Dorothy H., age 101

Died: Saturday, June 27th, 2015

A private family service will be held at Evergreen Funeral Home.

Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Ladysmith, Wisconsin at a later date

Dorothy Anna Alice (Hoff) McCorison, formerly of Owen, passed away at the age of 101 with her daughter at her side on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the Syverson Lutheran Home in Eau Claire proudly surpassing her goal to reach 100 years of age.

Dorothy was born on August 2, 1913 to the late George and Martha (Brechlin) Hoff in Trout Creek, MI. She spent her childhood in Curtiss, WI, graduated from Abbotsford High School, and received her teaching degree from Stevens Point Teachers' College.

On June 5, 1937, Dorothy and John "Jack" McCorison were married at Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church in Menomonie, MI. They lived in Marshfield, Clam Lake, Curtiss, and Owen, Wisconsin. Dorothy taught at the Liberty School, Spencer Public School, and the Owen-Withee School Districts. In Owen-Withee, she taught 3rd grade for 18 years and elementary art the 6 years prior to her retirement in 1974.

Dorothy (Mom, Grammy) was a lady ahead of her time and the touchstone of our family. Following Jack's death, she enjoyed traveling and spending time at the cabin near Phillips, WI which she and Jack had built. She enjoyed reading, art, handwork, gardening, playing the piano, church activities, life in general, but most of all - her family. She was always there for us with unconditional love.

She is survived by her daughter, Jane (Ken) Schuring of Mondovi; grandchildren, Laura (Scott) Weld of North Oaks, MN, John (JoJene Bell) Wall of New Richmond, WI; great grandchildren, Anna and Ellen Junko, Tashana and Jaycee Wall, and Gabrielle and Eloise Weld; many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, John "Jack"; siblings, Myrtle (Howard) Stoltenberg, Ethel (Louie) Boardman, and Harley (Marion) Hoff.

The family would like to thank the staffs at Oakwood Hills Retirement Center, Dove Healthcare South, Our House Senior Living, The Syverson Lutheran Home, and the Marshfield Clinic Oakwood Center for all the care and respect given to Dorothy and her family during her years in Eau Claire.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
