Janet Marie (Sickman) Wiechmann, age 80, died on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Care Partner's in Altoona with her family by her side.

She was born June 8, 1938 to late Elwin and Ruby (Jump) Sickman in Rice Lake, WI. Janet graduated from Fort Dodge High School in Fort Dodge, IA in 1956. She married Ronald Wiechmann and together they had four children.

Janet lived in many places early in life, settling in Hastings, MN in 1972. It was there she worked for the Government Center until her retirement and was a faithful member of St. Phillips Church. Her Christian faith was very important to her, starting every day with a Bible verse and every meal with a prayer.

Janet enjoyed knitting and spread her love by handing out wash cloths one at a time. She enjoyed reading, watching Elvis movies, bird watching, volunteering, spending time with friends and family, putting together puzzles, and playing cards with her best friend and sister, Shirley. Her ultimate love was for her boys and in her eyes, those boys could do no wrong.

She is survived by her sons, Dr. Robert (Jodi) Wiechmann of Eau Claire, Brian (Sue) Wiechmann of Eau Claire, and Brad (Nancy) Wiechmann of Hastings, MN; daughter-in law, Rose Wiechmann of Walker, MN; grandchildren, Emily (Nigel Lasheras) Wiechmann, Catherine Wiechmann, Laura Wiechmann, Anna Wiechmann, Kendra Wiechmann, and Ashley (Matt) Green; great grandchildren, Olivia, Romeko, Cohen, Lillianne, Jaxon and baby girl; sister, Shirley (Joe) Moore; many nieces, nephews and other family members.

Janet was preceded in death by her parents; son, Richard Wiechmann; and grandson, Matthew Wiechmann.

The family would like to thank the staff at Care Partner's and Mayo Clinic Health System-Eau Claire for their love and care given to Janet. Special thanks to Dr. Chris Roberts and Kadie Schmidt, R.N. for providing amazing, compassionate care.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
