Joan G. Rehberg, age 83, died on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at her home with family by her side.

Joan was born on September 15, 1932 to the late Gilbert and Hanna (Sorlie) McCluskey in Eau Claire. She graduated from Eau Claire High School in 1950. On October 22, 1951, Joan was united in marriage to Gene A. Rehberg at Grace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire.

For many years, Joan worked as a teacher's aide and playground monitor at Lincoln Elementary School until she retired. Throughout her years as a member of Hope Lutheran Church, she was active in the HLCW, quilting and knitting groups, and volunteered at The Community Table. With her husband Gene, she loved singing with the Hope Lutheran Choir and together they were founding members of the Valley Gospel Choir. She also volunteered with the Eau Claire Children's Theater.

An enthusiastic, dedicated fan and supporter of both Eau Claire Community and North High School sports, Joan could be found at all types of sporting events cheering on her children, grandchildren and those of her neighbors and friends.

Joan is survived by her son, Reverend Greg Rehberg of Petaluma, CA; daughter, Cheryl (Paul) Dennison of Superior, WI; grandchildren, Theresa Angus, Lindsey Rehberg (Justin Bauer), David Dennison (Liz Hanson), and Eric (Aimee) Rehberg; great grandchildren, Oscar, Mareesa, Cooper, Wesley, Ellianna, and Remington; sister, Nancy Myhers; many nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Gene; son, Mark; twin brother, James McCluskey; sister-in-law, Patricia Thorson-McCluskey; brother-in-law, Ernest Myhers; and daughter-in-law, Therese Rehberg.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
