Milton Siker, age 88, of Eau Claire passed away on Wednesday May 14, 2014 at Dove Healthcare South.

He was born July 18, 1925 in Kenosha, WI to the late Joseph and Tillie (Simon) Siker and grew up in Janesville, WI. He graduated from Janesville High School in 1943. Milton enlisted in the Army on July 16, 1943 (two days before his 18th birthday) and served in the Philippines including the battle of Okinawa. On February 8, 1946 he was honorably discharged. He attended UW-Madison graduating on June 29, 1949 with a degree in Bachelors of Science Business Administration and then attended a graduate business coop program at the City College of New York. While attending the program, he interned at Sax Fifth Avenue in the tie department.

sikerAfter completing his studies, Milton and his first wife, Elnora, decided to settle in Eau Claire. In December of 1954 they opened "Siker's Furniture and Carpeting" at 407 Water Street. Additionally, Milton was on the founding Board of Directors of Community State Bank in 1959. Milton chose Eau Claire as his home based on the blend of University sports, theatre and most importantly, the community. His love for Eau Claire was evidenced throughout his life as he contributed freely of his time and resources to multiple causes and was active in the Water Street Business Association and the Noon Exchange Club, and he especially enjoyed donning his clown costume for the annual Doll and Pet Parade on Water Street.

Milt was widowed and he remarried Marci Storrs on April 27, 1979. Milt and Marci, known as M & M, enjoyed square dancing, traveling and spent hours outside creating a beautiful front and back yard to enjoy spring, summer, and fall picnics and activities. They celebrated their 35th wedding anniversary in April. Milt and Marci were avid supporters of the UW-Eau Claire Basketball and Softball programs receiving many formal and informal accolades and were recognized with the "Jim Mueller Blugold Spirit Award" in 2011 for their 20 plus years of contribution and special post game treats.

Milt was a lifelong tennis player from his teenage years to 80. He also loved ping pong, the New Yorker cartoons, bridge, and Casino (a family card game), bowling and disco dancing. His love of ice cream for breakfast, before bed or any time of day, was well known to all who knew him.

Milton will be remembered for his many contributions as a civic and business leader. He will be loved for his deeply caring and giving approach to family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Marci Siker; son, Michael Siker of Eau Claire; daughters, Gigi (Joel) Andrews of Glen Allen, VA and Nancy Siker of Milwaukee; stepson, Pat (Nancy) Storrs of West Bend; stepdaughter, Carrie (Bill Payne) Storrs of Pesotum, IL; grandchildren, Kailee Andrews of Madison, WI, AJ Storrs of New York, NY and Sam Storrs of Lawrence, KS; nephew, Larry (Svetlana) Siker of Janesville, WI; other relatives, many friends and loyal customers.

Milt was preceded in death by his wife, Elnora; brother, Arthur, and sister, Patricia.

Honoring a life with a meaningful service is an important step in the grief process and is a gift to their family and friends —
a gift of memories and a gift of healing
